Devil's Academia: Doug Satan

 So i was doing a concept for the dad and devil of hell, And i realized i was drawing muscular prince LOL

This probably won't be the one i go with, But i just wanted to show you guys :D

Devil's Academia.

Hey guys, whats up?

 So right now, im drawing up some characters and a script for a 30second-ish animatic for class,
its about the Devil telling the three main characters that they are going to take over as Devil for him so he can go into retirement.


So here are a few concepts for the characters...

Now this is Winnie, I've been having a hard time deciding whether to make her sassy, or shy. Shes supposed to be from the Queen Family, A notorious family who have dedicated themselves to one another, Being an heir to the Devil's throne is something her family disagree's with, as they would rather she stays with them and be a part of the Hive.

Annabelle is a fun-loving, Cheeky girl who loves to play and joke and have fun. Kinda like me :P She is the daughter of the Faun Family, and a new heir to the Devils Throne. Her family is all about joking around and being cheeky and basically having a crapptonne of fun, because in life, you only get one shot at it, so, why not have a laugh along the way?


I have another character but i havent worked on her concepts yet,  I will be sure to post them ASAP.

Sasha, The Maiden.

here is a sketch of a character, (i had trouble finding references for cool dresses, so i just stuck to the usual) i did this while i had the power out. i got my timetable for this semester, its a pretty relaxed schedule, two full days a week. it feels like the more time i spend at this school the more relaxed it gets...

Sammy Bloom.

so today I've done a crap tonne, mainly cleaning up my room because it was a total mess (Thought i was gonna move out but turns out im not yippee! ) i really really wanted to do some watercolouring but it seems that i have lost my watercolours somehow :'( so instead i just did a few lineworks of my GW2 Character Sammy Bloom. She's a Necromancer that summons undead and uses them to transmit diseases onto bad people. (i like to call, the Aids Army)

I did one without clothes and her mushroom hat to get anatomy down right, then the next with armour and stuff. Since i wanna do game character art i need to practice drawing poses,weapons, fancy armour etc etc

im hoping to go to Auckland at somepoint and get myself a new tablet and some watercolours, so expect some of that goodness to come :'D

Annah, Colour/Cleanup Talk

I've spent all day doing an illustration of a character, i never really do complete illustrations, something that needs to change, (Mainly because it takes me a long time to colour/lineart) the only way i know to colour, is to do the light source then shadows/highlights, then put through a blur, im really wanting to know how to colour and do linework sketchy. i really like the work of Piyotycho and want to get my stuff to look a bit more like that. (sorry i have no idea how else to explain it).

(i get really annoyed how every time i type Colour google says i spelt it wrong. too lazy to add to dictionary hahah )

New Style And Chicks

So I saw a new artist and though "WOW i love this style, ima Try something like it" and it instantly clicked with me, everything is so angular and stylized its so cool! 

Ariel and Anime.

So i got bored one day and decided to draw something different, maybe a little cringe but hey, i don't give a crap. its one of those days where you draw, or try to, but nothing good comes out so you just say "Screw it" and go crazy on paper. and this is what turned out. its really plain and boring to me but, i love how i did the face, not trying to brag or anything but, i think how i made the lip kind of skew to the side was done alright. (took me a whole lotta erasing hehehe )

Bud Starshield Walk Cycle WIP.

 So im doing a walk cycle for my character Bud Starshield (by the way, its supposed to be really cheesy and bad :P ) and, unlike alot of my friends and people i know, i find these are quite fun to do.
I mean, instead of having to tap into alot of creativity, its more of a puzzle, which pieces go where. i like puzzles, theres an answer at the end, instead of it being open ended (to a degree)

   So i Started off here, just putting my pen to work. while drawing this i felt like something wasn't right, like, there was alot off (which there where ;) )  to be honest, i was trying to get personality down, Bud is really Cocky and Confident, so i wanted to make him run leaning  forward.

So Continuing on, i needed to understand the silhouette  and basic shapes of Bud, so my thinking, is i draw a flat run cycle, so i have the mechanics of running, but there was still something off about the run cycle that i couldn't quite pin the reason as to why...

 Muscles Galore! the fun part, adding all the big ass muscles onto bud, making the standard run cycle, into my character, it was alot of hard work, but it was worth it. Also, i figured out the problem i had been facing! i only did half the cycle, i forgot about his left leg part so that's why i found him to be hopping alot xD  I still have a bit to go, (Dreading lineart and colour :O ) but i cant wait.

Invader Zim Fanart.

My Favourite Cartoon Show ever is Invader Zim. I love the characters and the expressions they all have, and the fact that i feel i can draw them pretty well :P. This is more along the lines of where i feel my 'Style' is at. as a kid i never really new about this show, it was only until i was about 12-13 where i started watching it at about 11pm, the only time it was on along with Naruto and Digimon. (New Zealand T.V Networks are terrible with things like Cartoons and Anime.)

Have you got something where usually, no matter what mood you're in, you have something that you feel you can draw consistently well? Well, mine is Invader Zim.

Bud Starshield and Format Changes.

 

 So this is the Bud i started out with, on paper, my preferred medium, its what i started out with, and really gets me thinking about what to do, since there's no Ctr-Z. also, i feel there's less stress on me to create something good on paper, more enjoyable. It's really fun designing characters, Bud started out as a cyborg type character who could remove his limbs and use them to move and such, to a comic character being brought to life by a lonely amazingly talented teen inventor.

  (looking back at this, doesn't he kind of look like Stan Smith from American Dad? :'D )

Format Changes.

 I'm also still working out all the kinks to this blogging thing, so expect there to be a few changes in the format, backgrounds etc. i've added a new page for Gesture Drawings, Life Drawing and Anatomy, things that are a bit more technical, im unsure on how to make that page function efficiently yet, so please treat it as a work in progress :P


(I'm really curious to whether i can have flash games on this blog, might be quite cool aye? )

Sleazy Streets.

  

This is my before and after of a piece i did for our schools art exhibition, i was really inspired by works done by John K, and wanted to do something in the style of his art. I like his artwork because it is very crude, but also gives people laughter and enjoyment.   This is also one of my first times using colour in Photoshop and actually understanding how to use it.

Star Tentacle Poof Party

So this took me about 30 minutes to draw, was trying to make a banner for this blog, but decided to go down a different route. I'm wanting to do cutesy characters but with big black outlines, which is new to me.
for this i turned off my brain and just drew, i didn't realize what i was drawing until i finished.

 That's my little character at the bottom left, hes really fun to draw, so expressive and cute to me :P

A Year and a Half in Reflection

 Have you ever gone back through one of the first works you do and realize 'holy crap i was terrible!'?
well, that's how i feel now, going back a year and a half ago when i first started to draw my works where absolutely horrible, everything was so flat and stiff. 

 Going back, it makes me feel really good, how much you can improve if you draw everyday, trying to git gud. i look at all my classmates and i see their work, it made me feel terrible, seeing everyone who has drawn since they where kids, thinking to myself, 'who would even hire me?' i don't feel like that anymore, i have gained confidence over this past year and i feel like i can do anything and everything.

i kept on saying that I'm going to do more on this blog, then i stop for months, well, the reason i stopped was because i felt terrible confidence wise, as I've said on previous posts. I'm going to do more, as this blog is making me really happy, being able to share my experiences and work to people everyday.

A year and a half ago.

Tentacle Snatch.

An animation i did for my 2D studio class last year, i had alot of fun on this, it was something different to what else i would do, hell, i didnt even think i would be allowed to do something like this. i got a good grade from this and was really fun animating (boobs are fun to animate ;) )

Art Style, Confidence and Character Screw Up.

So i fancied inking again after a year from doing it and i forgot how horrible it is.
I spilt ink on the second one and tried to cover it with white ink :P now he grey.

i don't know why, but i like this character, hes very simple, but really emotive.

I've been drawing for about a year and a half now, finished my diploma and now going to do another one, the one thing that's kept bugging me that I've only recently gotten over is how i hated my art and drawings. every time i would look at what I've done would make me angry, because i knew that i could do a lot better, but it would never come out onto paper (or P.C).

this was really unhealthy to do, it would make me very depressed and stop me from drawing all together. but now, i've come to the conclusion, everything i will draw right now, will be terrible. so, i've stopped drawing to produce something good, instead, i draw to make me happy, and hopefully, to make others too.

Im showing this because its terrible, like, its a really bad piece of work, but it makes me chuckle when i see it (and drew it). if someone laughs at this, then I'm ecstatic, but I'm going to draw for me, and i hope others will draw for themselves too if they went or going through the same as i did.
